Citra is a Nintendo 3DS emulator. It's completely free, multi platform and open source, created by a team of developers known as Citra Team. It may emulate sound entirely, something which RYUJINX can't do. Multiplayer through networked WiFi is supported, which permits you to play multiplayer games with other people, though they have to be utilizing Citra. You can not play multiplayer with individuals which are using a real Nintendo 3DS.

Installation of Citra works with Windows, MacOS, Linux, and Android, though the Android version is in early access as of This Moment. The general consensus is that Citra setup is very easy, quick, and rather straightforward, with a lot of tutorials and guides offered for you. While choosing Citra, you may select between two versions, both of which have advantages and pitfalls to use. The more steady version is Citra Nightly, which is the much more secure variant of Citra. The second version, called Citra Canary, includes new features, alterations, and upgrades that Nightly doesn't have. These attributes are occasionally experimental and may or may not end up in the Nightly version, but they are often features that can not be used with better performance, or features that cause the game to lag or operate improperly throughout gameplay.

You want Windows 7, 8, or 10 to perform either Citra version on Windows. To play on MacOS, you will require version 10.13 High Sierra or even higher. To play on Linux, you'll need a 64-bit modern version, and Windows 8 is needed to operate Citra on any and all Android devices. Officially, all hardware has to be at least 64-bit to run Citra's software. To play games, then you'll want both a Nintendo 3DS along with a game controller. Citra includes a massive collection of games that you could play, but you have to have the game cartridge of each game you want to playwith. This can make gameplay very inconvenient.
